Focus - November is Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month

Like many other mysterious and debilitating diseases, Alzheimer's holds a lasting impact on the lives of Alzheimer's patients' caregivers, families, friends, and communities. This month is set aside to spread awareness, encourage prevention, and enrich the lives of those affected by the disease. As a company that places healthcare professionals in long term care environments, we know that many of the people our patients work with are affected by Alzheimer's, whether directly or indirectly. A little known fact, Alzheimer's is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States, and yet, awareness of the disease is still fairly low. This month, we encourage our friends and families to learn more about Alzheimer's and gain some understanding on this mysterious brain disease. Learn more at Alz.org

Boom!

Baby boomers means booming jobs in healthcare. With 71 million Post-WWII babies aging into retirement, healthcare professionals are more in demand than ever before. Whether you're looking for a career path or simply interested in the vast expanse of healthcare professions, look no further than this guide to learn more:

Registered Nurse: Provide and coordinate patient care and support. Has a degree and has passed a licensing exam.

Physician Assistant: A healthcare professional licensed to practice medicine with physicians as part of a team.

Physical Therapist: Provides services that aid in improving function and mobility and preventing pain and disabilities.

Laboratory Technologist: Collects samples and performs tests to analyze bodily fluids, tissue, and other substances.

Dietician: An expert on diet and nutrition.

Pharmacist: Professionally licensed to prepare and dispense medicinal drugs.

Medical Record Technician: Use various classification systems to code and categorize patient information for various databases.

If any of these careers sound appealing to you, look into advancing your education and choosing the healthcare career path. We regularly place professionals like registered nurses and physical therapists, so it's nice to know that these jobs will be "booming" during the near future.
